Todays Work. 3/12/12

Today was all about drawing with the sewing machine and developing my drawings.

Drawing on the sewing machine for the first time in months and I think I did quite well, it could use a bit of working on but I like the roughness of the look and I just did it to bulk out my drawing work a bit.

Manchester Trip.

So in the summer I went to Manchester for a few days and as we were walking around (mostly in the northern quarter) we saw the most amazing pieces of graffiti. The more we looked the more we found so on the Sunday we went out looking for it with our cameras.

Just some of the photos I took it the Northern quarter. It seem like anywhere you looked you would see something else that would catch your eye. Machester is a beautiful city and I fell in love with it though its art and culture.

Drawing Trip.

The other day I went on a drawing trip to the Hancock museum in town and had a fun filled day of drawing. Well walking around with an A2 sketch book made me feel likw everyone was looking at me and it was a little bit hard to draw with nothing to lean on but all in all a good trip. I also took lots of photos to work from on a later date. 

21st Century Romance.

My new project is called 21st century romance (surface design for fashion) and for this I have decided use old/disfigured bones as my focus for my drawing.

This project is surface design for fashion and since I have never done Men's wear I thought I would do men's wear for A/W 2013/14.

SAMPLES!!!

This week its been all about the samples.

Overall I'm very pleased with the way my samples have turned out and because of my sampling I have worked out a way to attache leather to organza fabric without any nasty sewing stitches visible.

Initial Designs

Some initial design ideas that I had for the drass I am going to be making for my final major project, the design has changed some what from these initial designs but the idea behind it are still the same.

Final Major Project - Drawing work

 A coloured pencil drawing of the Ghost Rider. I think the coloured pencil worked very well on this kind of image and is one of my favorite drawings so far.

Working on different techniques of drawing here. Left handed drawing, simple line drawing done with thick black felt tip and continuous line drawing.

Looking at lettering with the works 'Merc with a mouth' (Deadpool's nickname). I like the effect witht the lettering but I dont think I will be development work because I dont think it looks sophisticated enough for the market place I want my work to be in.

Looking in to mirroring images to make abstract motifs.

Continuous line drawing of grenades layered on top of a tonal drawing of a chain. I love the layering of images and motifs, I think that is something I will me looking at for development/final piece.
